If there is one thing that most of us can agree on it is that decorating a home can quickly become expensive. Forgetting about your budget is easy when you get carried away with the theme that you want to create. If you don't have a lot of money to spend, trying to create a good look and feel for your home can be incredibly stressful. Thankfully there are plenty of ways to decorate that don't involve spending major dollars.
Here are a few hints to help you save money when you want to decorate your home.
You don't have to decorate exclusively from super expensive galleries and art shows. Buying new art isn't important right now. Take some time to find prints of your favorite artwork. Original art is more expensive than prints. It is easier to take prints home and hang them than it is to do the same with original works of art. Prints are usually made in standard sizes which makes the framing of them easy-you can even do the framing yourself. Simply choose a frame you like from the discount racks at the frame shop and do the work yourself! Buying prints of your favorite artwork and doing the framing yourself is easier on your budget and your schedule because you don't have to cater to a gallery's schedule or have to pick up a framed piece of art as soon as a framer calls you. Make your own original art if you simply must have something that is one of a kind. Creating your own original art is better for your budget and still let s you fill your house with original pieces. The cost of art supplies is usually quite a lot lower than the cost of a finished piece of art. You can create your own paintings and sculptures when you have the time-nobody says you have to follow a schedule. Decorating your home can be something the whole family takes part in! Have your children paint, draw and sculpt stuff for their bedrooms. Check out a few "how to draw" books from the library and you're on your way! Then, when someone comes over and says "wow, who did that great painting?" You can say proudly "I did!"
Check the classified ads in your area or use online classified sites like Craigslist. There is always someone selling decorations through the classifieds (online or off). You might even be able to decorate your entire house by just spending a few hours looking through these types of websites and contacting sellers. It might even be easier for you to put your own ad up on Craigslist that talks about your decorating ideas and asks for help. Placing your own ad could save hours of surfing time because it will give buyers a way to find you. Remember to be careful! It is a good idea to thoroughly inspect each item you want to buy before actually handing over cash for it. Decorating a home does not have to be expensive. You don't have to spend a lot of time doing it. Decorating your home should be fun! You won't be able to enjoy your home's d?cor if all you can think about is how much time it cost you and how much money you spent on the project.
