I've Just Found My Iideal Bike, the Cannondale Quick|Why Haven't I Found the Cannondale Quick Before|Someone Must Have Been Keeping the Cannondale Quick Secret}!
For a while now I've been trying to find a bike to fit my individual kind of riding:-
" While I like to cover the miles on the road, a real road bike with drop handlebars and an uncomfortable saddle wouldn't be right. I commute to the office by bike, so need something comfy that will also take a bit of luggage. It needs to have mudguards too for when it's wet.
" I like to venture occasionally along the canal towpath, but I don't need a mountain bike with huge thick tyres that is difficult to pedal on the road - and the road is where I will spend the majority of my time.
There's indeed no lack of choice in the market, with lots of suppliers trying to grab a share of the action. So researching the market is not easy. So many of the bikes that I looked at were simply not suitable - most were just not fast enough Gentle riding would be no problem. But they were just not built for speed. Then someone pointed out the Cannondale Quick .
Clearly one look at the bikes in the Quick series was enough to tell me that I had found the right bike:-
" Lightweight alloy frame, looking like it was built for speed. Carbon forks on the higher models in the series.
" Lots of gears to help me up the hills on the way to the office. Again, the superior bikes in the range have really good road bike components- not typically found on hybrid bikes.
" Mini V-brakes which have lots of power but are easy to keep in good condition, in contrast to the disc brakes you so frequently find.
" The wheels on the higher models are simply beautiful - paired spokes that look as though they have come off a road bike. I appreciate that they are not as sturdy as wheels with more spokes in a conventional pattern, but these are just fine for road riding.
" The prices are not bad. You can get cheaper of course. But the range starts at about £600. If you have the money, you can spend up to £1100 - a tad beyond my price range I have to admit.
So following all this Web research, I made my way to the local Cannondale stockist for a trial ride. I picked a model from roughly the middle of the range, as it seemed to tick all the boxes. But at the same time not too expensive for me.
I was very impressed with what I found. The bike felt stable, yet sprightly and nimble. The carbon forks absorbed most of the road vibration and the seating position was very comfortable indeed, perfect for extended trips. The gear change was slick, with a good selection of ratios for hill-climbing.
I could see that this was a bike that I would look forward to riding home after a hard day at work.
The verdict was somewhat of a no-brainer. I placed the order immediately. I'm going to have to wait a week or so, but the wait is sure to be worthwhile.
