The unbelievable way two young entrepreneurs are changing lives both here and abroad
PORTLAND, OR -FEBRUARY 14, 2012 — In the United States, when a person thirsts for a cool drink of water, all they must typically do is unscrew a bottle cap or turn the tap on and fill up their glass. The fact is most don’t even give it much of a thought. Yet more than 700,000 men, women, and children in Africa don’t have access to safe drinkable water. For many, what seems second nature here in the US, is a struggle in everyday life for them. Dehydration and diarrhea become life threatening
ailments that many Africans face daily.
Ralph Hoffarber and Kwame Essieh are two young Portland, Oregon entrepreneurs who want to help in some way, and show their concern for the people of Africa struggling daily with lack of clean water. The two businessmen who are only in their twenties, have formed ThirstyTalent.com—an online writing service that helps those who struggle with finding the right words
for resumes and other writing projects.
Hoffarber says, “We want to help those that struggle with any type of writing. A lot of young professionals struggle with words so we’d like to be their alternative whenever possible. At the same time, we’ve partnered with GlobalWater.org—an organization that has made huge contributions to the fight against the water crisis.”
The team at ThirstyTalent.com have agreed to give at least a gallon of clean fresh water for each writing package they complete.
“We have a ready-to-go group of excellent writers that are eager—you might even say 'thirsty'—to research and write for any project,” Hoffarber explained.
Competition is fierce in the job market and the way you present yourself matters more than ever. First impressions are lasting ones. Your resume is the first meeting between you and a prospective employer more often now than ever.
“Remember—it’s not the most qualified candidate who gets the job these days, or the business with the best product that attracts the most customers… it’s the one that presents themselves best,” Essieh said.
Regarding resume writing… “[ThirstyTalent.com] writes [their] resumes from scratch and simply uses your old resume if you have one as a source of information. If you don’t have an old resume, [they] ask that you simply send a little bit of your work experience, education, and any other activities that you’ve been involved in. [They] do the rest. It’s a win-win situation. The client gets a highly targeted resume and a child in Africa gets fresh easily accessible water,” Essieh also said.
